Baldwin, Christie, Day-Lewis, Dee, Falco, Kline, et al. Win SAG Awards

The winners of the 14th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 27 and broadcast live on TNT. The ceremony also celebrated SAG's 75th anniversary.

This year's winners for individual acting achievement included Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men), Julie Christie (Away From Her), Daniel Day-Lewis (There Will Be Blood), Ruby Dee (American Gangster), Edie Falco (The Sopranos), Tina Fey (30 Rock), James Gandolfini (The Sopranos), Kevin Kline (As You Like It), and Queen Latifah (Life Support). The winners for Outstanding Ensemble were the casts of the film No Country for Old Men, and the television series The Sopranos and The Office.

Tony Award winner Charles Durning, who will turn 85 next month, received the group's Lifetime Achievement Award. In a taped interview, Durning spoke about auditioning for Public Theater head Joseph Papp, who eventually cast him in That Championship Season, for which he won a Drama Desk Award. Film clips shown included his performance in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, which earned him his first Academy Award nomination.

The evening's many presenters included Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Mickey Rooney, Debra Messing, Zac Efron, Vanessa Williams, William Petersen, Nikki Blonsky, Hal Holbrook, Emile Hirsch, Marion Cottilard, Chandra Wilson, James Marsden, Michael C. Hall, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Denis Leary, Burt Reynolds, Holly Hunter, Tommy Lee Jones, Matthew McConaughey, Kate Hudson, Viggo Mortensen, Josh Brolin, Kate Beckinsale, and Forest Whitaker.
