Britney Spears is Crazy. Officially.

Britney Spears is Crazy. Officially.

In a plan that had been reportedly conceived by her psychiatrist for days, Britney Spears was taken by ambulance and police escort to UCLA Medical Center this morning where she has been placed on 5150, a psychiatric hold. Spears, who has not slept since Saturday, had allegedly deteriorated to the point where this was basically the only option. Unlike her last ambulance ride, Spears was tranquilized and went peacefully.

Britney's psychiatrist told her she was going to the hospital. Her response was, "Is something wrong?" She was not resistant. She made hot chocolate and waited before paramedics arrived and placed her on a gurney....We're told during her initial 72-hour stay she cannot be forced to take medication against her will. If, however, she refuses to take meds, the plan is for the the psych to go to court and have Britney held for an additional 14 days, during which time he can administer proper medications."

There also seems to be a power struggle between Osama "Sam" Lutfi and Spears' parents over who will be making the medical decisions for Britney:

As of right now Jamie and Lynne Spears have been told they are not calling the shots in making medical decisions on behalf of Britney. Right now, it appears Sam Lutfi is in the driver's seat, but that could all change....Right now, the doctors at UCLA are working with Lutfi and not the parents, but lawyers have been called and the tension in the air is thick. We're told Jamie was screaming at Sam in the hallway, accusing him of trying to control his daughter's mind."

I don't know, controlling Britney's mind doesn't seem like it would be all that difficult. I'm thinking you probably wouldn't have to do a lot "trying". Just hand her a cigarette dipped in cake and she'll pretty much go along with anything.

Britney Hospitalized for 'Mental Evaluation

Britney Spears was taken by ambulance to UCLA Medical Center for a psychiatric hold last night.

Shortly after 1 A.M., police were called to her Studio City home and she was taken in for treatment on a 5150 hold. Under a 5150, a patient is deemed a danger to themselves or others and is admitted under a 72-hour emergency hold. Last time Brit was hospitalized, she left after just one day.

Just like the Jan. 3 episode, the scene outside her home last night was surreal. A cavalcade of police motorcycles and cars lined the streets as two helicopters flew overhead. Paparazzi scrambled to get a shot of Brit inside the ambulance, but she left through a side gate and escaped the frenzy.

Reports have been circulating that Britney tried to commit suicide, but X17online.com reports that her mom Lynne said "Britney is fine."

Both of Britney's parents are at the hospital with her right now, along with her confidant Sam Lufti. Brit's photog boyfriend Adnan Ghalib reportedly drove with Lynne to the hospital.

X17 says Sam was denied entrance into the hospital at first, and there are reports that the family is fighting amid fears for Britney. Lynne is reportedly furious with Sam and worried about his intentions with the troubled star and hasn't held back in letting Britney know it. Britney's dad Jamie reportedly got in a screaming match with him in the hospital halls because Sam was trying to make medical decisions for Britney.

Britney Spears In Tears, Parents Arrive At House

Britney Spears’ parents rushed to the singer’s home on Monday evening after she had a huge bust up with her manager Sam Lutfi.

The evening’s events began around 6 p.m. when Spears was reduced to tears after an argument with Lutfi. Spears then stormed out of Lutfi's car, just outside the gates to her Summit Circle home, and sat on the side of the road sobbing in front of hoards of photographers.

Sources tells Us the fight was fueled by Lutfi's insistence she speak to her mother, Lynne, Lutfi wanting her to see a psychologist, as well as Lutfi's refusal to let Spears see her paparazzi boyfriend, Adnan Ghalib.

Spears — who won telephone rights to speak to her kids Monday, according to court papers — then got into the car of another photographer named Felipe, and drove inside the gates of her home. It was then that her pap boyfriend, Ghalib, tried unsuccessfully to gain entry into her gated community.

At 9:07 p.m. Spears’ father, Jamie, arrived at the Summit home. After sitting outside the gates for a few minutes, he finally went inside. Spears' mother, Lynne, arrived soon after.

At around 9.30 p.m. Spears left her home. She was later seen driving around Los Angeles with Ghalib by her side. Shortly after 11 p.m., Spears and Adnan returned to her home.

At 11:15 p.m., Spears was spotted returning to the home. Jamie had left at that point.

At 1:20 a.m., Spears went to nearby Longs Drugs with her mother, Lynne, and Lutfi.

Spears has `mental issues,' friend says

Barbara Walters says she has been contacted by Britney Spears' manager and "very good friend," Sam Lutfi, who says the pop singer has seen a psychiatrist.

Lutfi told her the 26-year-old pop singer "is suffering from what he describes as mental issues which are treatable," Walters said Monday on ABC's "The View."

"He said that she has been to a psychiatrist and that she, I assume, is starting some kind of treatment," said Walters, a co-host on the ABC daytime talk show.

"She has been having mood swings. She's been having trouble sleeping, and also she is in touch with her mother — 'cause we had heard she wasn't — and her mother has been very supportive of whatever it is that Britney is going to do," Walters said.

Lutfi has been staying with Spears constantly, "and he got in touch with us," Walters said. "I can't vouch for this, he seemed to be very knowledgeable and he certainly was very nice."

Spears' attorney, Sorrell Trope, didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment Monday. Spears' spokeswoman at Jive Records, Gina Orr, didn't immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment.

Spears has spiraled downward since filing for divorce from Kevin Federline in November 2006. Her bizarre public antics include shaving her head bald, attacking a car with an umbrella and bringing along a paparazzo pal on trips to a Los Angeles courthouse in her custody case with Federline.

The singer was taken to a Los Angeles hospital by paramedics earlier this month after police were called to her home because of a dispute involving her sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1. She has lost custody and visitation rights with the boys.

Spears reportedly has had a rocky relationship with her mother, Lynne Spears, whose book about raising her family in the spotlight was put on indefinite hold last month after younger daughter, Jamie Lynn, 16, announced that she is pregnant.

Paparazzi crush in Spears' neighborhood

Police were called to Britney Spears' neighborhood after someone reported a swarm of paparazzi trespassing in the singer's gated community.

Los Angeles police Officer Mike Lopez said officers received a call around 7 p.m. Monday about a group of photographers "stepping onto the grounds" of the private neighborhood while following the 26-year-old pop star.

When officers arrived, they didn't see anyone trespassing, Lopez said. He said citations were issued for several illegally parked cars.

Lopez said he didn't know how many photographers were following Spears.

Spears' manager says singer has "mental issues"

Sam Lufti, the manager and companion of troubled pop star Britney Spears, has said the singer suffers from "mental issues" and has seen a psychiatrist, talk show host Barbara Walters revealed on Monday.

On her ABC television show "The View," veteran broadcast journalist Walters said she spoke with Lufti by phone after he reached out to her.

"He said that Britney is suffering from what he describes as mental issues which are treatable," Walters said on "The View." "He said that she has been to a psychiatrist and that she, I assume, is starting some kind of treatment."

Walters said Lufti has been staying with the singer "constantly" and added that Spears has been having "mood swings, she's been having trouble sleeping."

Walters said she did not know whether Lufti was indeed telling the truth.

Spears, 26, has seen her life spin out of control in the past year since her late 2006 divorce from ex-husband Kevin Federline.

She has exhibited bizarre behavior in public, including being photographed not wearing underwear, and she and Federline have waged a bitter legal battle over custody of their sons.

Late last year, Spears lost custody and visitation rights to Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, and was ordered to undergo drug and alcohol counseling and parental coaching.

She has failed on numerous occassions to appear in Los Angeles family court for hearings dealing with her and Federline's custody issues.

Jamie Lynn Spears

Here’s the first photos of preggo Jamie Lynn Spears taken last Friday, the same day Britney was admitted on a ‘medical hold’. Jamie Lynn and mommy dearest Lynn Spears, were seen leaving the Tangipahoa Adult Education Center in their hometown of Kentwood, LA.
Jamie Lynn Spears surfaced in Hammond, Louisiana last Friday, providing one of the first photos of the 16 year old since she announced her pregnancy. Although she had attended prestigious Parklane Academy in McComb, Miss., Jamie apparently dropped out, as she was pictured carrying a GED book outside the Tangipahoa Parish School System Adult Education Center, a GED preparation site and Title I Parent Center, which teaches parents how to help their children learn reading skills.

Jamie Lynn had been attending a regular high school until last fall when she began home schooling. Gotta get that GED cause your career may not last forever!

Spears, who announced last month that she’s expecting a baby, was pictured outside a building that houses both the Tangipahoa Parish School System Adult Education Center, which is a GED preparation site, and the Title I Parent Center, which teaches parents how to help their children learn reading skills.

The star of Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101 previously attended the prestigious Park Lane Academy in McComb Miss., which she had been going to off-and-on for years, depending on her filming schedule. (She studied with tutors while in Los Angeles.)

Jayden James, son of Britney Spears is also hospitalized

Jayden James, son of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline was reportedly also rushed to the hospital in L.A. alongside his mother after the major stand off with police as reported earlier. Apparently, one-year-old Jayden James had to be transported in a separate ambulance, but it's not yet known what the poor baby is being treated for. K-Fed was spotted carrying their older son, two-year-old Sean Preston when emergency services including police helicopters, fire crews and medical teams were called to Britney's home after Brit refused to let her sons go back to K-Fed. I sure hope Jayden James is okay. It must've been such a scary and confusing time for both of Brit's kids. I feel so bad for them.

Britney Spears and her younger son were rushed to hospital in ambulances today after a four-hour showdown in which she refused to hand over her children to former husband Kevin Federline despite a court order.

Aerial footage from a local television station showed Spears, surrounded by six police cars, a fire engine and hordes of paparazzi, stretchered out of her Los Angeles home and into a waiting ambulance at around 11pm (0700GMT Friday).

Star's condition is unknown at this time

Britney Spears has been rushed to hospital in Los Angeles after a dramatic stand-off with police at her home last night (January 3).

She was wheeled out of her home on a gurney and taken in an ambulance to UCLA Medical Center. Her medical condition is unknown, although it is being reported by that she was under the influence of an unknown substance when police arrived.

Police cars, ambulances and fire trucks rushed to Spears’ home yesterday evening at The Summit, a gated community in Los Angeles after she reportedly refused to turn over her two sons to their father after a visit.

Jayden James and Sean Preston were visiting their mother this afternoon and were scheduled to be returned to their father at 7pm. When Federline’s bodyguards arrived to pick up the children, Spears apparently refused to hand them over.

The children were eventually returned safely to their father’s care at around 11pm.

Spears was taken to a the hospital just before midnight local time, the ambulance surrounded by swarms of paparazzi as it left the gated area where she lives.
