For this season, the search for contestants for “American Idol” went to seven cities, and more than 100,000 people auditioned for a chance to compete on the star-making show.
First stop on the audition tour: Philadelphia.
Joey Catalano, who has lost 204 pounds, sings the Maroon 5 tune, “Sunday Morning.” For some strange reason, I’ve had Randy Jackson on the brain all day, so as for Joey’s performance, I’m going to say it was OK for me dude, just OK. But, Joey gets approved by all three judges.
Could this be a good omen for what’s to come? Nah, I doubt it.
Alaa Youakeem says The Bee Gees make him feel special. (Me, too, Alaa.) He sings “How Deep Is Your Love?” Paula says to him, “I appreciate you so much,” and Simon presses her to cut him down. Alaa doesn’t make it.
Kristy Lee Cook auditions in Philadelphia for American Idol 7. She said that she sold her horse so she could travel to Philly from Oregon (even if she had already moved to Texas “several years ago” according to her own website). She also does self-defense kick-boxing.
Of course, thanks to Google, we know that Kristy Lee Cook signed with Arista Nashville and Britney Spear’s production company Superstar Spears in 2001 when she was 17. She released a CD called “Kristy Lee” in 2005. She was managed by the former manager of LeAnn Rimes.
I think Kristy Lee Cook is pretty! Kinda reminds me of over-achiever Ayla Brown.
